Mission Tecate
BorderTrek-Mexico 2003
June 21-28, 2003
The Annual Mission Team Project of the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach will be carried out this year in Tecate, Mexico from June 21-28, 2003. Our team will be among approximately 70 teams that will be participating in BorderTrek-Mexico 2003, a mission project program sponsored by United Methodist Volunteers in Mission.
This will be an exciting opportunity for our church family
- To share God’s Love with those outside our community through word and deed.
- To experience God’s Grace through being in ministry and learning that ministry is a two way street in which we are as blessed as those whom we seek to bless.
- To grow in our relationships with one another and with God so we can become a more viable witness for Christ when we return to our own home.
The mission project will include
- Construction project opportunities.
- Vacation Bible School opportunities.
- Health Team Opportunities including medical, dental and optical.
This will be a TEAM Ministry. As such, those participating must
- Be Rising Seventh Graders or Above;
- Be Members of First United Methodist Church, Vero Beach;
- Be Of Legal Age, Or Accompanied by a Parent or Legal Guardian;
- Be Departing with the Mission Team from the Parking Lot of First United Methodist Church, Vero Beach on the Day of Departure.
The cost of sending fifty team members to Mexico will be approximately $50,000. The Church Family will raise half of the required funds through the Lentern Offering and Special Gifts.
- Each Adult Participant will be asked to pay $450.00 towards the cost of the trip.
- Each Youth Participant (seventh through twelfth grade) will pay $225.00 towards the cost of the trip while the Pumpkin Patch proceeds will pay an additional $225.00 for a total of $450.00 per youth participant.
