The Vision of First United Methodist Church is "To Know Christ and to Make Him Known" by carrying the transforming message of Christ's love into the world through the ministries of the Evangelism Team.

The Pie Ministry Team is but one way we reach out and seek to bring others into our church family. We are always pleased when someone visits our church family and one way we show that is by a visit from our church family and a pie delivered to the door of their home. And, of course, this provides the opportunity to answer questions, provide additional information and invite them to come again.

The Communications Team plays an important role in reaching out in the community in the name of Christ and welcoming non-members into the fellowship of the church through the world wide web, the local newspaper and phonebook, weekly and monthly publications, and others.

The Gideon Partnership is an important aspect of evangelism in that it gets the Word of God into the hands of the People of God so that they can learn of God’s love for them and it is to this end that we are pleased to be partners with the Gideons. Gideons International states that it “serves as an extended missionary arm of the church: Our sole purpose is to win men, women, boys and girls to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through association, personal testimony, and distributing the Bible in the human traffic lanes and streams of everyday life.”

The Missions Team plays an important role in reaching out into the community by recognizing that we often are most effective in ministering to people when we seek to reach them at their point of need. For some this means providing a meal, helping with rent, filling a prescription, subsidizing a mortgage or a rental payment one month, or paying a utility bill. At FUMC, we do all of these because Jesus said, “If you did it to the least of these, you did it unto me.”
